About One Stop
One Stop Advice Centre (OSAC) provides comprehensive advice and support in areas (representation in some areas) of Welfare Benefits, Debt, Housing and Immigration. Established in 2012 One Stop Advice Centre is a independent provider in Bedfordshire in the East of England. Our highly experienced caseworkers provide a comprehensive casework service providing advice and assistance from beginning to conclusion in some circumstances we are able to provide representation at social security appeal tribunals, housing repossession hearings, and other debt related matters at the Crown and County Court. The Service operates an appointment system throughout the week, and is open some evenings and Saturday mornings, providing greater access to advice and support. By way of background One Stop Advice Centre is a registered charity, which has been successfully running for over 9 years. our initial outlook was to offer support to the most vulnerable in our community which primarily focused on women but through our experience we have expanded our services and are now providing support and guidance to not only women but to our youth. Over the years we have built a sustainable relationship with local businesses and residents by supporting them through a range of successful projects. Being able to run our services means we can do what we are passionate about, providing our community with opportunities and access to a range of training and workshops to develop key life-long skills and help reduce the differences in achievement levels between affluent and deprived communities across Luton.
Volunteering Opportunities
We are always looking for volunteers to support us, we will help the volunteer to train up so you are confident and able to take initial instructions from clients and are able to provide clients with generalist advice, refer to a specialist internally, provide information or signpost to other service providers. Every little help makes a difference to our disadvantaged and vulnerable clients. Volunteers will at all times be supported by a specialist advisor. We would like commitment and expect our volunteers to have the following skills, be reliable, patient, non-judgemental, confident and be open to learning and show commitment to self-development. More About One Stop
Predominately our work involves advising and helping people from the community with training and social welfare advice and support. OSAC has always had the ethos of providing a voice for the voiceless.
We have run several youth projects; projects have resonated with our philosophy of community capacity building. involving young people from the community to take part in leadership training, carrying out research and interviewing people, and gaining a wide range of skills
We are currently working with VERU & Youth Partnership Service and are providing
· Befriending telephone service tackling isolation and loneliness.
· Mentoring program for youths by males and females from the South Asian community
· Buddying program-meeting local businesses that can mentor young people into their chosen line of work/career.
· Parenting program to build reliance, confidence, and guidance with parents when dealing with their children.
· Free fitness MMA/Boxing/Grappling for males, offering safe space and recreational activities.
· Female-only fitness sessions.
· Finance Advice, including benefits support, employability, and debt issues.
We are trying to provide holistic service trying to provide services under one roof, building trust and confidence with people from our community
